Emmaera takes a fall

The Allegheny Inn

• The party travels to the Castle Ward and investigates the Allegheny Tavern. Emmaera approaches a man by the front desk, who pricks her finger and dips the blood sample into a solution that turns an electric blue. The man responds in surprise and tells Emmaera he wasn't expecting a Scion of the House, and gives her a key to a door to the heavily secured door to the basement. The party descends into the basement where a sigil is painted on the ground, above which an aura of silence is cast. Beyodn the sigil is an illusory wall the party crosses as they proceed further into the dungeon.
  
  
• Emmaera notices a set of levers next to a door, with suits of armor stationed on each side. Emmaera ignores the levers for some reason and tries to open the door, at which point the suits of armor spring to life and proceed to kick the ever loving shit out of Emmaera. The rest of the party defeats the suits of armor and proceeds deeper into the complex.
  
  
• #Battle The party enters a room with a flaming skull. Larys immediately sprints into the room and savagely beats the skull with his axe, and the skull responds by pelting him with an upcast magic missile, which Larys shrugs off. Before it has a chance to react further, Kal runs into the room and bashes the skull until it falls to the ground. Busvine enters the room and pours holy water on the skull, extinguishing it. Larys stomps the skull into dust and the party exits the room
  
  
• The party checks a number of rooms and finds that they were all hastily abandoned mere moments ago. Emmaera stumbles upon a bedroom, and investigates a nearby hairbrush, which contains hair of a very rare grey color.
• Emmaera enters another room and finds it contains texts books she recognizes as apprentice level spellbooks.
• Emmaera check a room at the end of the hall, and finds three pages of writing, the third and final page which looks as if it was written in a hurry and abruptly ends mid-word. In the same room, Busvine find a bunch of deposit slips from the Lafeyson family to the Cassalanter Family.
• With one final room to search, the party finds another set up levers, and Emmaera pulls the iron lever, which clicks back into place witout an obvious effect. She approaches the door to the final unchecked room and a trap door opens underneath her, dropping her 30 feet into a pit of spikes. bruised, battered, and pierced to swiss cheese, Larys and Kal use a rope to haul Emmaera out of the trap and administer a healing potion. Larys jams two handaxes into the hing points of the trap door so that it won't open again, and the party approaches the door to the final room.
• #Battle As soon as the door is opened, two apprentice mages, a mage, and an archmage unleash a flurry of spells at the party. Emmaera counters a fireball spell but the party is pummeled by a number of others. Larys charges the Archmage and begins relentless attacking him and is soon joined by Kal. Busvine remains in the hallway taking pot shots at various mages while Emmaera hides in a nearby room, on the brink of death. Emmaera peeks out of her hding place logn enough to successfully cast Hold Person on the archmage, allowing Larys and Kal to go absolutely nuts on him. Larys does a total of 56 damage and Kal does 95 before the archmage is ironically finished off by a fireball spell from his mage friend. Though Emmaera has been trying to apprehend this mage alive, jarlaxle Baenre appears out of nowhere and stabs the mage dead. Underneath a carpet in the room, a second archmage appears and grabs the bodies of the mage and the first archmage and teleports away.
• The party is hurried out of the inn by Jarlaxle and is met out front by Vajra Safahr who ushers them into a coach. She explains that the party needs to get out of the city for awhile, and she conveniently has a job in mind that will take them awy from the city.
