Party Introduction:
While tracking down his old friend Jorkin, Larys encountered the party in the sewers underneath Waterdeep. Upon discovering the body of Jorkin in the sewers, he followed a trail of blood from the body to an adjacent room where the party slept. Larys initially believed the party to be responsible for his death, and attacked them. After being defeated and bound by the party, they explained to him that they were Jorkin's colleagues, not his killers. Larys begrudgingly accepted this explanation as a condition for his release.
| Session | Interactions |
|---|---|
| Waterdeep Session 22 | The party is dropped off at Jorkin's tavern after their on-the-road meeting with Vajra they gather supplies for the journey ahead. Larys yells a command at Bruce: "Brucie, BUG OUT MODE" to which Brucie responds with a salute before going about his business. The party finishes packing their supplies and sets off for Blackstaff Tower to meet with Vajra about the upcoming quest. |
| Waterdeep Session 22 | Furhter along their travels, it becomes apparent that Nundro is wary of the entire party, as he's not said a word to them outside of his own introduction since they set off on their journey. Moreso than the other, Nundro seems exceptionally distrustful of Larys. Larys intuits this, and suspects this is due primarily to the exceptionally long and bloody history between Orcs and Dwarves. In an attempt to assuage Nundro's distrust, he mentions to Nundro that the Red Dragon Scale armor he's wearing was in fact forged by a dwarf, to which Nundro only responds that they're nearing a waystation that they can rest at for the night. The party notes that this is the most Nundro has said to the party since they arrived in Neverwinter, despite its dismissive tone. The party beds down for the night before continuing in the morning. |
| Waterdeep Session 22 | As the party reaches a large stone door, they are approached by a huge woman, in dwarven terms at least, standing a colossal 5 feet even and 200lbs. The ground trembles to a small degree as she approaches the party and in particular Larys, a look of disdain burning in her eyes. Larys stands his ground in a state of bemusement at the female Dwarf's stature as she stares him up and down before loudly demanding to know where he got the set of red dragonscale armor. Larys tells her that a friend custom made it for him. Unfazed, she demands that Larys remove the the armor's belt. Larys, increasingly enamored with this strange dwarf, suggests she take it off for him. The large dwarf only smirks as she lifts him inches from the ground with one hand, and takes the belt off with another. As she does so, a look of sadness comes across her face once she turns it over and reads the inscription etched onto the reverse side. She asks Larys how he knew her brother, Karak Ironmender. Larys tells her that they had fought a dragon together, and that Karak was a good man. The dwarf is immediately disarmed by this response as she tells Larys that Karak must have really believed in him, as the set of armor is a fine gift. |
| Waterdeep Session 22 | The large female dwarf finally introduces herself as Gilda Ironmender, and asks Larys if he is interested in atest of strength. Larys gleefully accepts. Gilda and Larys battle it out in an armwrestling match where Larys utilizes his focused rage and Gilda uses some form of magic to enhance her strength. It's a close fight, but Gilda inches Larys out for the win. This armwrestling match appears to have changed the mood of what has now become a crowd of dwarves gathered around, from suspicion to acceptance of Larys, and by extension the party. |
| Waterdeep Session 22 | Everyone sits down for dinner, and Gilda mentions that she's only been to the surface once, and she wants to follow in Karak Ironmender's footsteps again. Larys unzips his fanny pack and playfully hands Gilda a Jorkin's business card under the table. Busvine and Thogrum Ironmender flirt HEAVILY at the table in a display of intimacy that makes everyone else at the table each a unique shade of uncomfortable. The entire party and Ironmender family make merry until the sound of an anvil being struck abruptly ends all conversation, and the entire Ironmender Family share a glance before bolting up from the table and tearing out the front door. |
| Waterdeep Session 22 | The sound of the anvil being struck races faster and faster and then abruptly stops. Seemingly out of thin air appears the head of a huge, fully grown green dragon. Suddenly a clanging of metal is heard behind the dragon, followed by an oddly wet thunk. The dragon appears to be wounded, and a green ooze appears from its mouth. Larys and Kal ready their weapons and prepare to strike, while Emmaera speaks to it in draconic. She asks the dragon what has happened to it, and receives no response. Kal, suspicious fo this unresponsive dragon walks around behind the dragon's head and realizes that the head is not attached to anything. There are ingots of various materials strewn about, and attached to a rope connected to the dragon's head, is a dead gnome. An arm is stretched around the gnome holding a dagger in it's heart. The arm moves as the dagger is removed from the heart, and rivivify is cast as the gnome takes a breath and regains the life in its eyes. From behind the gnome, a penguin runs out but it's legs too are bound by rope. From behind the gnome, Karak Ironmender appears, heavily injured and bloodied. The ropes binding each creature are all evidently attached to Karak, and he yells to the party to cut the ropes that bind him. Kal frantically tries to cut all four ropes that bind him. She manages to cut three of the four, but before she can cut the fourth and final rope, Karak disappears from this plane of existence. At that moment Busvine hears an unknown voice in her head that says "Not yet", and Karak suddenly reappears, falling to the ground dead. Busvine casts rivivify on Karak and he springs back to life, thanking the party. |
| Waterdeep Session 21 | #Battle The party enters a room with a flaming skull. Larys immediately sprints into the room and savagely beats the skull with his axe, and the skull responds by pelting him with an upcast magic missile, which Larys shrugs off. Before it has a chance to react further, Kal runs into the room and bashes the skull until it falls to the ground. Busvine enters the room and pours holy water on the skull, extinguishing it. Larys stomps the skull into dust and the party exits the room |
| Waterdeep Session 21 | With one final room to search, the party finds another set up levers, and Emmaera pulls the iron lever, which clicks back into place witout an obvious effect. She approaches the door to the final unchecked room and a trap door opens underneath her, dropping her 30 feet into a pit of spikes. bruised, battered, and pierced to swiss cheese, Larys and Kal use a rope to haul Emmaera out of the trap and administer a healing potion. Larys jams two handaxes into the hing points of the trap door so that it won't open again, and the party approaches the door to the final room. |
| Waterdeep Session 21 | #Battle As soon as the door is opened, two apprentice mages, a mage, and an archmage unleash a flurry of spells at the party. Emmaera counters a fireball spell but the party is pummeled by a number of others. Larys charges the Archmage and begins relentless attacking him and is soon joined by Kal. Busvine remains in the hallway taking pot shots at various mages while Emmaera hides in a nearby room, on the brink of death. Emmaera peeks out of her hding place logn enough to successfully cast Hold Person on the archmage, allowing Larys and Kal to go absolutely nuts on him. Larys does a total of 56 damage and Kal does 95 before the archmage is ironically finished off by a fireball spell from his mage friend. Though Emmaera has been trying to apprehend this mage alive, jarlaxle Baenre appears out of nowhere and stabs the mage dead. Underneath a carpet in the room, a second archmage appears and grabs the bodies of the mage and the first archmage and teleports away. |
| Waterdeep Session 20 | The party checks out one of the farms an hour north of Ironspine. Larys investigates the grain field and notices that swathes of it have been taken, but they haven't been properly harvested. Instead they've been crudely torn from the ground. Nearby, a corpse is laying on ground outside and Kal notices signs of severe blunt force trauma on the body. Emmaera investigates the farm house, and there is a visible hole in the thatched roof. Inside the house, the debris from the roof can be seen, but no evidence of what it was that made the hole. Emmaera notices that all the destruction seems to emanate in one singular direction. She also notices that nothing of monetary value inside the home has been taken. |
| Waterdeep Session 20 | #Battle The party enters a nearby marsh and is set upon by a giant toad, a direwolf, an owlbear, and a giant spider. Larys rushes in to take the Owlbear on himself, while Kal charges at the direwolf. Emmaera takes cover behind a tree and fires at the direwolf. Kal is ambushed by the giant spider and the toad. Emmaera and Kal, separated from Larys swarm the Wolf, Spider, and Toad while Larys wails on the Owlbear. Kal delivers killing blows to several enemies and Larys lops the head off the Owlbear. |
| Waterdeep Session 20 | #Battle The party decides to lay an ambush at a nearby farm. As the giant coems into view, it's flanked by two direwolves, and two regular wolves. Emmaera springs her attack by launching a fireball into the middle of the group, which kills both wolves, ones of the direwolves, bloodies the other direwolf, and pisses the giant the fuck off. Larys throws a spear and a handaxe into the giant, slowing him. The giant, pissed off and aware he's slowed, lobs a huge chunk of shit and innards at Emmaera, dealing substantial damage as well as poisoning her. Emmaera, now also pissed off, launches two magic missiles at the remaining direwold and three at the giant. Larys rushed the giant and hits him with two swings of his greataxe. The giant lobs another bunch of trash at Emmaera. Kal chases the giant around the side of a nearby structure and slays the giant with a swing of their greataxe. |
| Waterdeep Session 19 | #TheGrellBeast Melannor Fellbranch projects a spectral cat at Larys back at Jorkins and tells him that the Xanathar Guild is summoning monsters to distract the city watch while they operate elsewhere. One such monster is a Grell that has already snatched an old woman in the night. |
| Waterdeep Session 19 | #TheRooftopSniper At 10 bells, the party arrives at Corellon's Crown where Ziraj is waiting on the rooftop. He offers a cheek to Kal to strike to make the apprehension look legitimate, and Kal socks him. He then asks Emmaera and Busvine to incapacitate him with a spell, possibly a sleep spell. Ziraj fakes an attack at Emmaera and she wets her pants before fearfully casting hold person to incapacitate him. Larys offers to piss his own pants for 5 gold. Kal tosses him 5 gold and Larys on cue pisses his pants. |
| Waterdeep Session 19 | #TheGrellBeast #Battle While at The Dock Ward, the party finds two Grell beasts. The party defeats both beasts handily, and notice that one tries to open a sewer grate moments before Busvine obliterates it with what appears to be a nuclear blast. Larys opens the sewer grate and peers down into the darkness, and sees on the wall a painting of the Xanathar Guild and an arrow pointing off into the distance |
| Waterdeep Session 18 | The party arrives at House Ulbrinter and Kal, Emmaera, and Busvine enter the party while Larys heads to the service entrance towards the outer grounds. Emmaera recognizes Jellen and lord and lady Gralhund |
| Waterdeep Session 18 | House Ulbrinter. In another wing, the servants of all the visiting nobles gather in a party of their own. :Larys notices Grabass, servant to the Gralhunds. Larys asks him if he's noticed anyone new or otherwise odd at the event, but Grabass says he recognizes every single person in the room. Soonafter, a thin, 5' 7" woman in thin leathers, cape, and a mask enters the room and begins throwing gold into the air from their bag. In the ensuing chaos, she disappears deeper into the mansionl. Grabass recognizes her as The Black Viper, and recalls that she's a local legend going back a century, as a thief who likes to rob nobles. |
| Waterdeep Session 17 | Jalester Silvermane visits the tavern and invites the party to the open lord's palace. The open lord Laeral Silverhand greets the party and apologizes for the attention the party is getting due to their finders fee. Emmaera asks her about the mysteries woman from earlier in the day. Laeral appears to know the woman but not about the loan request to the party. She tasks the party with a new quest, a journey to Ironspine Keep as Waterdeeps delegation. They are to occupy one wing of the complex, and represent Waterdeep alongside delegations from a number of other cities in the Lord's Alliance. Larys questions their rules of engagement, which is to not harm any other members of the Lord's Alliance, but that for anyone who atttempts to storm the keep, it's kill on sight. |
| Waterdeep Session 16 | #DragonHeist Larys enters through a windows and heads aroudn the frotn of the building to unlock the door for the party. As he does so he notices the walls are covered in several layers of increasingly unhinged paintings of beasts, fiends, and monstrosities. The party heads up the stairs to the second floor |
| Waterdeep Session 16 | #DragonHeist As Larys and Renaer Neverember reach the second floor landing, Khilaine turns towards them from the easel and notices Renaer immediately she yells at Renaer. Khilaine turns back to her Easel and touches it with her hand. The painting on the easel begins to squirm and the displacer beast depicted on it leaps from the painting. She turns next to a painting of a Manticore and it too comes alive from the painting |
| Waterdeep Session 16 | #DragonHeist #Battle The Manticore lauches barbs from it's tail that hit Larys and Renaer Neverember. The Displacer beats attacks Larys. Emmaera flings a spell at the manticore and Renaer lunches forward and attacks Khilaine with a flurry of attacks. Larys swipes at the displacer beast with his axe but misses. Busvine enters the room and a bright flash of light emanates from her body, killing Khilaine instantly, and the two monstrosities vanish. Larys approaches Khilaine's body and spits on her. |
| Waterdeep Session 16 | #DragonHeist Emmaera strips the body of several pieces of clothes, before entering a side room, the floor of which collapses under her weight and she plummets down a floor. Kal leans over the hole and notices beneath Emmaera is a trap door. Busvine tosses a battered Larys a potion of healing and he chugs it down. From the front door of the Windmill, a unicorn clops in, with a drunken elf strapped on top. The party leads the creature down through the trap door |
| Waterdeep Session 16 | #DragonHeist The party approaches a large set of doors with the three keys: The gems, the Unicorn, and the Drunken Elf. The doors swing open and tha party cautiously heads inside. Inside the chamber, the walls are adorned with status of dwarves carved from stone. The party comes across more doors with Dwarvish writing on them that the party can't decipher. They notice a numebr of decrepit bridges they opt not to cross for safety. As the party passes another set of double doors, they pass a fresco, and Kal feels a faint magic, and can tell that they had to mentally resist something. Emmaera turns to look at Kal and her eyes cross the painting for a brief moment and she becomes enthralled with the painting, unable to move. Kal Picks Emmaera up and throws her over their shoulder and Emmaera fights to free herself. The further the pair get from the painting, the more feral Emmeara gets. Larys hog ties Emmaera while Kal turns back to detroy the painting. Once destroyed, Emmaera returns to normal. |
| Waterdeep Session 16 | #DragonHeist #Battle Renaer Neverember attacks the Black Pudding but misses. Part of his rapier, now soaked in the slime has begun to corrode. He takes a small amount of damage Busvine fire a guiding bolt at the creature, critically dealing incredible amount of damage to it. The creature shudders and splits into two smaller creatures. Kal swings their maul at the tentacle closest to them, and the creature recoils in pain, before splitting into two again. Emmaera blasts the largest creature with ray of frost and it splits again. There are now 4 sub-screatures who attack Renaer and he becomes bloodied. Larys uses his Javelin of lightning to hit all four slimes at once, unfortunately they are immune to lightning damage. Renaer rallies himself and attacks two of the slimes, killing both but taking further damage in the process. Kal squishes out one of the two remainign slimes and manages to dodge the acid splashback in the process. Emmaera finishes off the final slime with a quick spell shot with the flick of her wrist |
| Waterdeep Session 16 | #DragonHeist Emmaera is thrown by Kal and Larys across the middle bridge and enters the room on the far end. The room is lined with suits of armor, and a riddle written in Dwarvish beside. Emmaera uses Minor Illusion to communicate with Busvine across the bridge. The riddle asks for a secret never told before. Emmaera tells the room that she never followed the god she was born to, and a trap door opens up on the ground revealing a spiral starcase down. The rest of the party minute Renaer leap over the gap in the bridge and they collectively head down the spiral stairs. |
| Waterdeep Session 15 | #DragonHeist The party arrives at the old wizard's tower in the dock ward, led by Fenerus. It's a crumbling two story stone building. Emmaera casts detect magic, but the entirety of the tower appears to be an empty void in her detection sphere. Kal scans the second floor windows and from the corner of their eye notices something moving, becoming visible only just as it reenters a window. Larys opens the door into the tower and notices a sword laying in the middle of the room. He turns to the party and tells them not to touch it. In response to this, Kal immediately touches it, by kicking it out the door of the tower. |
| Waterdeep Session 15 | #DragonHeist #Battle The moment the sword exits the threshold, it begins to levitate and head towards Emmaera. In response, Emmaera casts a bolt of lightning which knocks teh sword back to the ground. Inside the tower, Kal hears rustling coming from the second floor, as well as someone speaking with a Drow-accented Elvish "We're made, you two grab it and run! I'll hold them off". Kal rushes up the stairs and is met at the landing by a Drow who immediately fires a poisoned arrow into their shoulder. Outside the tower, two more drow jump out the window and onto a lower roof and take off at a sprint. Busvine still outside, sees the fleeing drow and hits one of them with a scorching ray and takes off on the ground in pursuit. Larys sprints up the tower stairs past Kal and using his momentum swings his greataxe into the drow remaining on the second floor with critical force doing a substantial amount of damage. Emmaera climbs onto the lower set of rooftops in pursuit of the two fleeing drow and slivers the mind of one of them. Kal rushes towards the drow still in front of them, maul in hand bashes in his kneecaps, bloodying him and knocking him prone. Busvine, still in hot pursuit of the furthest drow outside nails him with a hail mary radiant strike from over 30 yards without even slowing down, and the drow takes substantial blinding damage. Upstairs in the tower, the drow drags himself to his feet and pulls out a short sword before lunging at Kal, missing with one slash and hitting them with a second. Kal faulters slightly but quickly steels themselves before riposting with their maul. Larys flies off the handle and swings at the drow in front of him but the drow ducks as sparks fly off the edge of the greataxe from its contact with the stone wall. Emmaera uses her magic to hold one of fleeing drow, he struggles to free hismelf to no avail. Kal winds their maul back before driving it into the trunk of the drow with a sickening crunch. Onlookers peer out of windows at Busvine as she runs through the streets of Waterdeep in pursuit of the most distant Drow, her radiant light pummeling him again and again, spilling his blood all over the roofs he's running across. Back in the tower, the drow attempts to dodge and flee from Kal and Larys, but they both swing at him. Kal misses their attack, but Larys lops off the drows legs at the knees, knocking him to the ground as he quickly bleeds out on the floor. As Emmaera and Busvine continue to fling spells at the two fleeing drow, Kal and Larys leap out of the second floor window of the tower onto the lower set of roofs and take off towards the drow in pursuit. |
| Waterdeep Session 15 | #DragonHeist #Battle The entire party in now in pursuit of the held drow, and the remaining fleeing drow. Emmaera, Kal, and Larys are chasing the drow from the rooftops as Busvine is on the street below. As Kal and Larys sprint across the rooftops attempting to catch up to the other half of the party, Emmaera strikes the farthest drow with three magic missiles. One of Busvines spells goes awry and hits a mayonnaise jar held by a peasant on the ground, who drops it on the ground, creating a mess that causes Busvine to slide, but she deftly recovers and continues her pursuit without missing a beat. Despite this recover, several more spells hit objects along her path, creating a cacophony of various spills, turning Busvines path into a veritable ice rink causing her to slip and slide all over the road. Kal and Larys catch up to the previous held drow and they both crash into him causing him to tumble to the ground as he cries out in equal parts terror and pain. He manages to stagger to his feet long enough to strike Larys with a shortsword, inflicting poison damage. Emmaera comes up to a 10 foot gap in the roofs ahead of her. Out of the corner of her eye she sees a rope she manages to climb over but it slows her down. |
| Waterdeep Session 15 | #DragonHeist #Battle The party reaches a set of docks filled with a ton of shady characters. The party loses track of the drow with the stone into a cloud of magical darkness. Emmaera holds up a few gold pieces and yells into a crowd "Two gold pieces for anyoen who can find me that Drow". A number of dock workers immediately point further down the docks, betraying the location of the Drow. She jumps down from the low rooftop and immediately eats shit into the dock below. Kal leaps from rooftop to rooftop and fires an arrow into the drow they've been chasing and it strikes him in the back. Busvine encounters a field of rubble and despite her small stature she deftly moves through the field without losing any speed. The rooftop drow turns and fires at Kal, his bullet barely missing Kals head. He uses this as an opportunity to jump across to the next roof Larys jumps across to the rooftop Kal is on, and then to its edge before stopping and throwing a handaxe at the drow. The handaxe lodges into the gut of the Drow and he calls out in pain but manges to stay on his feat. In the distance, Emmaera can hear what sounds like a tea kettle coming to a boyle, from a location just off the edge of a dock. As she's running down the dock, Emmaera detects the magic of the stone just behind the stern of the beached ship on the dock, meaning the drow is closer than she thought. She notices the tea kettle boiling sound is coming from only a few feet away from where she's detecting the magic. On the other side of the docks, Kal fires an arrow into the neck of the other drow, and he falls to his knees dead as he gurgles his last breath. Emmaera shots to Busvien the location she detected the stone, and Busvine rounds the corner of the beached ship, and into her view comes the drow on the edge of the docks, and behind him a 20 ft seection of the sea appears to be boiling and foaming away. The drow notices Busvine and fires a shot at her, but she deflects it with her shield. In one swift motion, Busvine twists to lower her shield with one arm as the other raises her holy symbol as a flash of light engulfs the remaining drow, and he immediately crumples to the ground. From the ocean, what appears to be a mechanical dragon turtle erupts from the sea. From the head of the device, a gnome pops its head out and its eyes dart from the dead drow, to Busvine, and he yells back down to an unseen person below. The gone closes the head of the device, and the begins to descend back into the ocean. Busvine notices the sound of a pressure valve about to blow coming from the vessel. Busvine realizes a steam explosion is imminent, and she grabs Emmaera and drags them both into cover behind the beached ship. A ludicrous amount of steam erupts from the turtle, and screams can be heard from people atop the ship. Busvine's skin is slightly burned, but she and Emmaera are otherwise unscathed. |
| Waterdeep Session 15 | #DragonHeist Emmaera searches thew body of the dead drow at the edge of the water and pulls a stone from the body, the power of the magic from the stone pulsates in her hand. She recognizes the stone as the real stone of golorr, and notices that it's something that must be attuned to. Meanwhile, Kal loots the body of another drow for it's pistol and smoke power pouches. Emmaera pays 100 gold to each of the dock workers who helped her locate the drow, and dons her Lord's Alliance pin before handing them some additonal gold to buy their silence. Emmaera has given the works at this dock so much money, that she's inadvertently bought the loyalty of 19 workers of the Kraken's Folly (The beached ship). Emmaera notices the stone calls out to be attuned to. The power coming from the stone is noticeable even to Larys, and he realizes that the stone wants to be attuned to because it wants something. |
| Waterdeep Session 14 | #DragonHeist Emmaera pauses to investigate the mechanical beholder and notices that it has no magical qualities to it. Instead it appears to be of costume quality, like a parade float. The party realizes they can't trudge through the streets of waterdeep with the unconscious Kobold they captured in the previous battle, so Larys drops him unceremoniously on the floor. Busvine administers a healing potion which abruptly wakes the kobold from his unconscious state. Kal forces the Kobold into compliance by scruffing him like a dog, his feet kicking desperately in the air. Emmaera, Busvine, and Kal interrogate the creature. The creature reveals that the duergar he was working for was struggling to attune to something. After recalling that the stone did not ping as magical, the party investigates it and hypothesizes that it might be a fake. Meanwhile, Larys recruits the Kobold into indentured servitude back at Jorkin's Tavern. |
| Waterdeep Session 14 | Back at Jorkin's Tavern, the party notices a group of five or six city guard, an unusual sight within city walls. The group of guardsmen are loitering outside of Jorkin's, staring up at the tavern's sign above the door. One of the guardsmen spits on the ground. Larys yells a threat at the guards, who ignore him as they turn and walk away. Inside the tavern, Larys and Kal argue over the fate of their new Kobold |
| Waterdeep Session 14 | Several hours later, Larys is working on some light carpentry projects for the tavern when he's approached by Kal, who very clearly has a bone to pick with him. Larys turns to blow them off, but before he can even turn around Kal slugs him in the jaw. Turning back towards Kal Larys tilts his head to either side, the bones in his neck cracking as prepares to retaliate, but Kal throws their palms up and says that the punch was merely meant as payback for Larys driving Bonny's doppelganger family from the city. The rest of the party as well as the employees of the tavern have stopped in their tracks, expressions of surprise adorn each of their faces as trade glances with each other, unsure of how this interaction is going to go down. Before any of the onlookers have a chance to react, Larys shrugs off the assault and without a word throws a bar towel over his shoulder and returns to his tavern duties. |
| Waterdeep Session 14 | #DragonHeist The party travels to The Seven Masts Theater to meet with Laeral Silverhand. After entering through the stage door, the party is greeted by a large bearded man who recognizes them instantly and introduces himself as Rongquan Mystere. Busvine scans the theater and notices two Drow hiding amongst the rafters of the theater. Emmaera recognizes the actress Westra Moltimur amongst the actors on the stage. Rongquan tells the party that Laeral is indisposed but that he is a member of The Lord's Alliance he can speak ton her behalf in her absence. The party is reticent to speak to him, and before handing over the stone they found, Kal asks to meet with Westra. Kal, starstruck, fawns over Westra for a few minutes before asking Larys for one of his crudely drawn Jorkin's Tavern business cards to give to Westra. Rongquan reveals that Fenerus Stormcastle has been arrested by the city watch and awaits trial for theft by a magister. He suggests that Fenerus must have hidden the stone before his arrest. |
| Waterdeep Session 13 | #DragonHeist #Battle Emmaera searches some nearby rooms and is ambushed by a mimic. She attacks the mimic but is stuck to it as a result. Larys Fugyovik drops the unconscious Kobold and runs into the room, striking it with his greataxe but becomes stuck as well. Feeling left out, Kalliope Felspark runs into the ever more cramped room, launching themselves off the walls while yelling "PARKOUR" and strikes the mimic with their greataxe, luckily without getting it stuck. From outside of the room,Busvine casts a guiding bolt which sets the room ablaze with light and strikes the Mimic, bloodying it. While still stuck the the mimic, Emmaera drives her dagger into it which only pisses it off. The mimic retaliates against Emmaera but she uses her magic shield to deflect its attack. While Larys' grataxe is stuck, he pulls out a maul and bonks the mimic to death, which then turns to goo leaving behind 14 gold pieces. |
| Waterdeep Session 13 | #DragonHeist #Battle The party crosses the sewer channel and wanders into a room full of seven Troglodytes, who quickly surrounding them Busvine is overwhelmed by the scent of the creates, while their vile stench invigorates Larys like a bag of smelling salts further fueling his rage. Kalliope FelsparkI Kal cleaves two of the enemies, killing one and bloodying the other with a single swift strike. Emboldened by Kal's attack, Larys swings his greataxe at two of the enemies clinging to the wall beside him, killing one and bloodying the other. Emmaera runs her hand down Larys' spine, giving him Dragon's Breath and sending a shiver down his back as he calls out in shock. Fire erupts from Busvine's hands and engulf two of the creatures in flames. One cries out in pain as the other burns to a crisp on the floor. Kal is knicked by one of the creatures but steels themselves against the pain, and counterattacks, slicign the create in half with a single swing of their greataxe. Larys struggles to contain a mysterious belch moving through his guts, before it culminates in a wall-rattling belch of fire from his mouth, which immolates on of the creaters and sets another mortally ablaze. As the creatures recoil from the sudden flurry of fire attacks from the party, Emmaera adds on an additional stunning attack of fire, melting another creature, leaving only one alive. The final Troglodyte attempts to flee, as both Larys and Kal swing their greataxes in tandem. Larys swings high, Kal swings low, hitting the worlds unluckiest creature from opposite directions, cutting the enemy into thirs, liberating it's torso from what is above and below it, and leaving it spinning in the air at 400RPM. |
| Waterdeep Session 13 | #DragonHeist #Battle The party comes across a room that seems...wrong. The room seems to be undulating in a way incomprehensible to the mortal mind. Put off by this, Larys tosses an unconscious Kobold into the room, which appears to float in midair, as if suspended in some sort of Liquid. Kalliope Felspark steps forward to attempts to rope the Kobold back in when they get close enough to see a non-manmade horror beyond human comprehension. This creature notices Kal, and causes their mind to go blank and freeze in place. The creature causes Larys to hallucinate and swing at Kal, but thankfully he misses. The creature luches forwards towards Kal, and spits a wad of SOMETHING at the part which shoots a bunch of radiant light in every direction, but missing the party. Busvine puts some distance between herself and the horror, and fires a guiding bolt at it, which seems to hurt the creature. Larys pulls a handaxe from his waistband and hucks it at the creature, lodging itself with a sickening squelch. Emmaera Wren Casts sorcerous burst against the creature which causes the creature to jiggle in lunch-losing fashion. Busvine continues throwing spells at the creature, but it appears unafected. Kal breaks free from their state of confusion, and swigns their hefty axe at the creature, cleaving it in twain, a sickening squelch fills the dank air as the creature vanishes into thin air. |
| Waterdeep Session 12 | #DragonHeist The party splits up leaving Busvine behind to report her surveillance findings to Vajra of The Grey Hand while Larys, Emmaera, and Kal leave to recon the location on the map found on the Nimblewright's body. After entering an alleyway, a wooden applecart comes careening down the hill with a small tiefling boy Jenks on top. Kal and Larys stop the cart in it's tracks and Larys catches the tiefling boy Jenks mid-flight. After setting him down, the three interrogate the children before Kal ultimately hands each child a gold coin in exchange for their future loyalty and tells them to skeedaddle. Noticing the children are avoiding a nearby building with its front door ajar, Emmaera and Kal ask the children about the owner, to which they reply "That's Fenerus' house. |
| Waterdeep Session 12 | #DragonHeist Inside Fenerus's House, Emmaera and Kal investigate the ransacked house while Larys stands guard outside with the now-commandeered applecart for cover. After discovering a symbol of the Zanathar Guild in the kitchen, Emmaera casts detect magic, which reveals two invisible intruders in the home. |
| Waterdeep Session 12 | #DragonHeist #Battle A complex game of charades ensues as Emmaera tries to signal toKalliope Felspark the presence and locations of the two hidden enemies. Kal fails to interpret Emmaera's interpretive dance and speaks to her in Elvish instead. After calling Larys into the home, Kal then relays the threat to him in Goblin. Kal turns back to towards the spot where they believe the enemies to be, and initiates combat by throwing a set of throwing knives out where they think the intruders are, managing to hit one, though they remain invisible. Emmaera Wren stabs one of the invisible intruders with a dagger before Larys uses his javelin of lightning to fire a beam of concentrated lightning into the general direction of one of the intruders, which both fries the fiendish villain, as well as causing him to lose concentration on his invisibility. Now revealed, this duergar villain is immediately stabbed to death by Kal. Emmaera focuses her attention on the remaining invisible enemy, casting Mind Sliver and causing the enemy a big ol' headache, revealing him as well. The enemy flies off the handle and grows to a large size. Kal yells out "LAARRYYYS", and Larys runs towards the enemy yelling "This guy is big pain in my assholes" before swinging his greataxe, bloodying the large enemy. Finally, Kal stabs the enemy bringing him to his knees, but not killing him. |
| Waterdeep Session 12 | #DragonHeist After the battle, Larys Fugyovik, Kalliope Felspark, and Emmaera Wren investigate the aftermath. Emmaera notices that the only wounds on these enemies are the ones the party made, meaning the blood the party found on the ground belongs to someone else. After exiting the building, the party is surpised to see a figure approach and reveal themselves to be the Open Lord of Waterdeep, Laeral Silverhand. The Open Lord tells them that Fenerus has been kidnapped and was in possession of the stone of galorr. She promises the party a favor in return for the retrieval of the stone. She describes the stone as a small stone that would fit in the palm of your hand and is a greenish-grey in appearance. The Open Lord hands Emmaera a stack of three paper message birds, telling them to find her at the seven masks theater in the dock ward once they have retrieved the stone. |
| Waterdeep Session 12 | #DragonHeist #Battle The party returns to Busvine and regales her of the tale of their recent battle. Together, the party leaves for the sewers now acting on the tip they received from the open lord. The party trudges through the rank smelling sewage, Busvine on the shoulders of Larys due to her short stature and danger of drowning, and Emmaera on the shoulders of Kal, due to her dislike of being covered in sewage. At the end of one particular dark sewer tunnel, the party finds an old rusted out door, leading into the Xanathar Sewer Hideout. After passing through the door with all six feet on the ground, they pressed forward, lanterns flickering against damp stone as the made their way towards the end of another tunnel that led into a small open room. From the darkness, sudden clatter erupted as two goblins, crossbow and bow raised, ambushed the party in the tunnel through a pair of arrow-slits. Busvine surged ahead and rounding the corner into the open room, she casts Inflict Wounds upon the crossbow‑wielding goblin, casuing his skin to blister and boil. At this very moment, from a side alcove opposite the ope room in the tunnel stumbled a massive drunken ogre, eyes glazed with drunken haze, swinging a massive club at Busvine and missing by a hair’s breadth. Larys, axe raised, drove a clean strike into the ogre’s flank, then hauled his greataxe back, thrusting it through the narrow arrow‑slit and twisting it so the weapon snagged the crossbow goblin’s neck, yanking the creature backward until it slammed hard against the stone wall, its head cleaving cleanly from its shoulders. Kal plunges their greataxe through the second arrow‑slit, the eyes of the bow wielding goblin wide in disbelief as the top half of its body is liberated from the bottom. From the rear of the party, Emmaera whispers an incantation of Magic Missile, unleashing three crackling bolts striking the ogre’s torso and sending him reeling off balance. Busvine lifts her holy symbol, summoning the Radiance of the Dawn, a blinding flash of celestial light erupts from the symbol, lashing the ogre’s chest as a spray of crimson coats the wall behind the ogre. Larys heaves his greataxe out of the arrow slit, and swings twice at the ogre, the first swing hits the wall and showers the beast with an array of sparks, the second finding purchase solidly into the ogre’s shoulder. Kal, eyes narrowed, drove their greataxe home with a final, decisive thrust, the massive weapon lodging into the ogre’s spine, pinning it upright, the creature’s eyes dimming as it collapsed with a guttural sigh. The party presses onward, the echo of their victory fading behind them, and enters a wider chamber only to be met by three duergar and a gazer. Larys hurls his lightning‑charged javelin at the gazer, the bolt striking the creature’s central eye and leaving a smoking wound that sizzled with raw energy. Kal swings their greataxe at a nearby duergar, its blade cleaving through armor and bone alike before lodging itself into a second duergar. Emmaera uses her True Sight to pick the perfect moment to plunge her blade into one of the duergar. Busvine raises her holy symbol once more, invoking Radiance of the Dawn anew as a wave of golden light bursts outward striking all three duergar and the gazer, two duergar convulsing under the searing brilliance, their bodies bleeding profusely, the gazer dissolving into a puff of ash and ozone in an instant. Two of the duergar now enraged, grow in stature and swell into a pair of hulking behemoths. Larys swings his greataxe in a wide arc, cleaving through one of the enlarged duergar’s torsos and continuing to cut down the smaller duergar that tried to intervene, both falling in a heap of broken armor and spilled blood. Kal steps forward, eyes blazing, and with a single thunderous swing their greataxe bit deep into the last giant duergar’s chest, the weapon embedding itself in the creature’s spine, the duergar letting out a final guttural howl before collapsing. The party moves further into the hideout and pushes aside a tattered curtain that separated the combat zone from the next chamber, and discover a half‑finished mechanical beholder. Just as they do so, from somewhere deeper within the hideout a hoarse voice shouts “It’s not worth it!” before the echo of its owner's retreat fades into the distance. |
| Waterdeep Session 11 | #DragonHeist The gang begins in The Yawning Portal where everyone is gathered outside of Meloon Wardragon's bedroom door, with the exception of Euthasol who is located downstairs in the bar. After Kal picks the lock on the door, Meloon darts out of bed without them noticing. Downstairs, Euthasol sees Meloon spring to life through the eyes of her familiar Bojangles and takes her time making her way upstairs to warn the party. After Meloon yells a warning to the party, they retreat down the stairs, but not before Meloon kicks Bojangles into a wall, vanquishing him. Enraged at this, Euthasol storms back up the stairs and attempts to break down Meloon's door, but breaks her foot in the process. Larys drags Euthasol back down the stairs kicking and screaming in order to avoid starting a fight in The Yawning Portal. |
| Waterdeep Session 11 | #DragonHeist #Battle After leaving the Yawning Portal, the party leaves a now unconscious Euthasol in the care of Bonny, and heads out to track down The Rogue Nimblewright, finding it hiding amongst some trash in a deserted alleyway. The Nimblewright immediately attacks the party once discovered. Larys grapples the construct by putting it into a full nelson, while Busvine, Emmaera, and Kal beat it down with a flurry of physical and melee attacks in a demonstration of back-alley street justice hitherto unheard of in the Crown of the North. The nimblewright is ultimately vanquished when Kal cleaves the construct in twain. In it's possession, the party finds a map of the Trades Ward with an unknown location marked upon it along with the phrase Fenerus Stormcastle. |
